Often there are three layers of work to do first, with a newly forming lead team in the boardroom:
1) Forming and Accelerating the Board as a team behind an agreed way of working:
The aspirational characteristics and behaviours are agreed. Any gaps are exposed and addressed.
What does "high performing team" mean here?
2) Define the purpose and story: Cascading from the vision of the CEO to engage the organisation.
The team swarms around the vision and mission. Individuals assess their own personal purpose and their alignment.
If this Board is part of a wider system, how does it it fit in? Which parts are unique? What needs to align elsewhere?
3) Explore Personal Leadership Development for all board members, working one to one.
Often, by the time leaders sit in the board, they've accumulated a wide experience of personal development and
leadership development. And often there are some gaps that needs some extra support and challenge. Our job is to
work with each board member to build confidence, clarity and courage in each person in the team. Raise self-
awareness; Remember the strengths; Mitigate the risks.
