Facet 5 personality profile
"My wife and I are playing a dangerous game in Lockdown. It's called Why do you do it that way? It never ends well" Twitter, April 2020
Facet 5 is an exciting and useful psychometric assessment tool for working with teams and leaders, and the personality profile that we recommend at Clearworks.
It is a "big 5" personality profile, which means it's based on the most modern, verifiable, supported personality profiling that exists. It's geared up to help coaches and clients explore strengths and potential, as well as risks and blind spots. It's presented beautifully and in a secure web-based, jargon-free way. It is also available in a 'light' version called Spotlight, to enable you to cascade it further across the organisation in an affordable way.
Crucially, it provides light and shade to the personality assessment and explores why people change under pressure and emotion. It has no binary spectrum from "introvert" to "extrovert" for example, which has always felt problematic and limiting to us, in some of the other popular tests like MBTI. The addition of "emotionality" (or neuroticism as it would be in the big five language) works as a multiplier and explains lots of peaks and troughs in people's changeable behaviours and state.
It's based in research and evidence, and is therefore robust enough to withstand the most challenging questions from the cleverest physicists and engineers and still hold its own for clients in this sector!
One of its key benefits is the ability to explore teamwork, team communication and team personality. Just as every member of the team has a personality, so does the team itself. Understanding the team and how others experience it, can be transformational - and often shock news to team members.
Understanding how to build empathy and understanding while working in teams is one of our number one requests for help from clients. A key characteristic of a high performing team is of course, the ability to find alignment, understanding, trust and respect for diversity. Facet 5 holds rich data for accelerating teamwork in that way.
During the recent COVID 19 Lockdown we saw a funny Tweet, that immediately brought this work to mind: "My wife and I are playing a dangerous game in Lockdown. It's called Why do you do it that way? It never ends well"! Facet 5 is a great opener for the conversations that drive great team-working and build trust and communication more quickly.
Facet5 is one of the most modern and advanced measures of personality available and is based on ‘the big 5’ personality traits, widely viewed to be the best way to understand how individuals tick.
Used by organisations and consultancies worldwide, Facet5 harnesses the power of personality, supporting individuals, teams and businesses to realise their full potential. Facet5 provides a simple model and a common language to explain how people differ in their behaviour, motivation and attitudes, and more importantly, what can be achieved.
We love it as a tool to build shared language in teams, especially in scale ups and agile, changing teams, and see it as a turn-key acceleration tool to ease and promote high performance and communication in teams.
